Donating

San Diego ICO is completely volunteer-driven. Your donation goes directly to fund outings for the kids.

All cash donations are tax deductible through the Sierra Club Foundation under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Service code.

Make the following possible:
  • Help a child hike a mountain, snorkel, or check out the tide pool critters ($15)
  • Sponsor a day trip of exploration for a dozen kids, including a healthy lunch ($50)
  • Allow a child to see the star-filled sky on an overnight camping adventure ($75)
  • Get a group out on an overnight camping or backpacking expedition ($400)

To receive tax credit for your cash donation, make the check payable to "Sierra Club Foundation/San Diego Chapter ICO", otherwise make it out to "San Diego ICO". Please send all donations to:

If you are eligible for a corporate matching program, please provide a copy of your employer's form with your donation. We will complete the form and send the required paperwork to your company. Thank you!

Gear or In-Kind Donations

We prefer to acquire equipment in multiples at the same time as it is easier for us to set up, store and maintain. We are unable to offer tax credit for donated equipment.

REI has been very generous to San Diego ICO. Please consider becoming an REI member. You may receive 8-10% back on your purchases as an annual "dividend". If you wish, your dividends can be converted to gift cards for San Diego ICO to use on future equipment purchases.
