coastal advocacy organizations, is, by volume, the largest in memory."

SB 1295 - City of Del Mar
Discussed at March 17 City Council Meeting. Video at
http://www.delmar.ca.us/City/Meetings/CityCouncil/20080317.htm
You can click on the item, it will show the video of the short discussion.
Look for this item:
"Discussion of League of California Cities San Diego Division Legislative
Subcommittee meeting and Executive Committee Meeting of March 10, 2008
specifically relating to Senate Bill 1295 and Proposition 98. (Hilliard)
[Part Two] Item: 12P"
Their conclusion was that they did not have enough information, and should bring
it back. As it died in the Senate Committee, it will probably not be brought back.
SB 1295 - City of Huntington Beach
On March 17 the Huntington Beach City Council had a vote scheduled
on supporting SB 1295. They did not support the bill, instead they voted to
oppose the bill.
You can watch a video of the Huntington Beach hearing. Go to:

and select the video from the March 17 meeting. The hearing starts at the
2:16 point, and runs almost an hour.
SB 1295 - City of Oceanside
On April 2nd, Councilman Kern introduced a resolution to send a letter of support
for SB 1295. Representatives from Coastkeeper, Citizens for Preservation of
Parks and Beaches, Sierra Club, Preserve Calavera, Surfrider, and Audubon all
spoke against the resolution.
There was no second for Kern's motion, so it died without a vote.
The Staff Analysis of the bill
lists the City of Oceanside as supporting the bill. That is an error. Maybe
someone sent a letter of support without the approval of the City Council?
SB 1295 - City of Santa Cruz
On March 25, the Santa Cruz City Council unanimously
and officially opposed SB 1295 and directed the mayor to communicate their opposition
to their legislators and the Chair of Natural Resources Committee.
