MOONLIGHT ON THE BAY
Meet at 6:30 PM near restroom at Shelter Island fishing pier (Thomas Bros. 1288 B-4). Our flat, slow-paced stroll under the full moon has city views, colorful gardens, a fabulous pink tree, and the music of the Temptations. Bring AT LEAST $2.00 donation for local Sierra Club conservation projects, jacket, walking shoes. Please, no children or pets. Open to main chapter. No need to call or reserve a space, just show up on time. There is no group size limit for this fund-raising walk. Grade E4A.
COL LEADER TRAINING

PICNIC, COOKOUT, POOL PARTY, FIREWORKS
Let's celebrate the 4th on the 3rd with friends, and meet lots of new friends. Bring food to share, and your drink. There's fun for everyone with food, friends, Frisbee, Horseshoes, Volleyball, ping-pong, swimming, etc., or just relax and visit with friends, old and new. We should have a great view of fireworks at dark to end a perfect day. The party is at 6430 Brynwood Way. See the June 19 party for directions. Bring your friends, we have room for everyone. 5 PM.

PADRES GAME AT PETCO PARK
Join 30 of your Sierra Singles friends for a night of baseball in the brand new downtown ballpark verses the Kansas City Royals. See our name on the big screen and enjoy the early "Fourth of July" fireworks afterward. Seats are between home and first base. Send a check for $16 ($2 off regular price) made out to Sierra Singles by June 23. We will be seated in Upper Infield Reserve with a great view of downtown. 7:05 PM.
INDEPENDENCE DAY BONFIRE & POTLUCK ON SHELTER
ISLAND
Let's celebrate the holiday weekend with another bonfire! Meet at the first fire pits just past the boat ramp on Shelter Island across from Humphrey's [1288-C3]. Bring warm clothing, beach blankets, chairs, tables, cook-stoves, potluck dinner to share, firewood if you can, and funny stories to tell. Bring your own beverages, music tapes and something to play them on, flashlights, musical instruments and anything else you can think of that's fun. No reservations necessary. Bring a friend if you like. Non-members welcome. 3:30 PM.
CARLSBAD BEACH WALK
Come join us for a walk along the beach at sunset. Directions: From I-5, take Tamarack exit. Drive west, cross Carlsbad Blvd. at light at bottom of hill. Proceed downhill to parking lot at Tamarack Beach. Wear shoes with traction, (we may walk over rocks), bring jacket, flashlight and water. We depart at 6:00 P.M., unless evening rain cancels. Grade E4A.
COWLES MOUNTAIN, BARKER WAY
Night hike! No hat, no sunscreen. Learn about the chaparral world by flashlight. Bring hiking boots, a light jacket, flashlight, water and a munchie. Call between 8pm and 10pm or on weekends for required signup. 6:30 PM. Grade M4B.
CONCERT AT TROLLEY BARN PARK--THE BOOGIEMEN (Blues, Funk, Swing)

Join us on the grass for the first of many free summer concerts at Trolley Barn Park. This is one of our most popular events. Bring a picnic, or buy food there. Bring chairs or blankets. Above all bring your dancing feet. Trolley Barn Park is located at Park Blvd. and Adams Ave. [1269 C3]. Park on the street wherever you can. 5:30 PM.
LAKE POWAY LOOP
Enjoy a morning hike around Lake Poway passing through four plant communities. The trail is a nice mixture of flats, gentle hills, and a few switchbacks. Wear shoes with traction, bring 2 quarts of water. I-15 to Rancho Bernardo Road, east 4 miles to Lake Poway Road, turn left and follow to park entrance. Parking inside is $4. First 25; we'll meet in parking lot. 9 AM. Grade M3A.
MISSION BAY BIKE RIDE 
We'll stop and smell the daisies as we enjoy a leisurely paced bike ride around Mission Bay. We will ride out to the ocean and back. Optional lunch at Rubio's after the ride. Meet at 9:30 AM in the parking lot just North of the Visitor's Center at Clairemont Drive and East Mission Bay Drive. Reservations not required. 9:30 AM. Grade E12A.
AGUA CALIENTE CREEK BACKPACK
Enjoy the only section of the PCT in San Diego County that follows a stream for a sizeable distance. Spend the night embraced under a canopy of giant oak trees while being serenaded by a whispering stream. We will do only 4 miles and 500ft elevation gain with full pack. This is exciting, gorgeous, tree-lined canyon scenery. Please contact Doug for required signup and trip details. Grade M8B.
SILENT MOVIE AT SPRECKELS ORGAN PAVILION
Movies: A Dog's Life and The Pilgrim. Dennis James will play the organ as background. His clever arrangements enhance the fun of these silent movies. Although the concert starts at 7:30, the seats fill up quite early, and we recommend you bring your dinner and get a seat as early as you can. Food is available at the park. Please reserve as early as possible so that I can try to reserve some seats. This is a must-see event at the Organ Pavilion at Balboa Park. 6 PM.
COWLES MOUNTAIN, MESA ROAD

BIG LAGUNA TRAIL 
Exploratory moderate paced hike over gently rolling hills and grassy dales, varied mountain scenery with a 900' elevation gain. We'll see 200 year old Jeffrey pines, along with spreading black oaks. Bring minimum two quarts water, lunch, and hiking boots. Meet at Grossmont park and ride at 8:00. Rain cancels. Call to sign up. Limited to 15. 8 AM. Grade M10B.
LAKE MURRAY BIRD WALK
More than 50 million Americans enjoy bird watching. Find out why at Lake Murray in La Mesa. Beginner birders especially welcome. We should see water birds such as Coot, Mallard, and Pied Bill Grebe, in addition land birds such as House Finch, California Gnatcatcher, Turkey Vulture, Cassin's Kingbird, and Common Yellowthroat warbler. Meet at 9:00 AM, at the secluded north entrance to the lake. Use entrance to the ball field's parking lot located near Belle Glade Ave and Murray Park Drive. Thomas Guide page 1250, square E6. Bring comfortable walking attire and binoculars. No reservations needed. Optional lunch afterwards at DZ Akin's deli. 9 AM. Grade E3A.
GETTING TO KNOW YOU BONFIRE & POTLUCK AT CROWN POINT
Come join us for fun at the beach! Games start at 5. We'll provide volleyball, frisbee and horseshoes; feel free to bring your favorite beach game. After games we'll have a potluck dinner. Bring your own beverages and food for 4. Bring campfire songs & stories, musical instruments, blankets/chairs and a big smile to share with new friends around the fire. South end of Crown Point Beach. Parking lot is at Crown Point Drive & Corona Oriente Road. Look for the Sierra Club banner. 5 PM.
VOLLEYBALL
Everyone is welcome. We'll have two nets available. If you have some skill you can join the intermediate players. If you're a beginner, we'll teach you the basics, and you can join the social volleyball net. Directions: I-5 to Clairemont Dr., west to Mission Bay Dr., turn right. At the next stop sign, turn left into the parking lot at De Anza Cove. We'll be on the grass near the NW corner of the parking lot. Look for the Sierra Club banner. 1 PM.
