As a student, not only do you get top-notch lectures, handbook, course book, nifty compass, and topo maps for each outing, you are also eligible for several special deals. The first is a discount card, good for 10-20% off your back packing purchases at some of the local stores.

Also, a swap table will be set up on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th evenings where you can buy used gear at a fraction of it's list price, while, amazingly enough, being able to sell your own stuff for several times what a new version costs.
